Teemu Roos will defend his thesis called "Statistical and Information-Theoretic Methods for Data-Analysis" on 9 June at 12 o'clock. The thesis is a compilation of articles describing three approaches to data analysis problems: statistical learning theory, Bayesian methods and the minimum description length (MDL) principle.

Pasi Sarolahti will defend his thesis "TCP Performance in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks" on 16 June at 10 o'clock. His thesis research aims at developing a faster and more dependable Internet. After working at the department to 2002, he is now Principal Scientist at the Nokia Research Centre in Ruoholahti.
