This course is intended as a first year course in Computer Science. It assumes basic knowledge on programming (in Java), WWW and HTML. The 'Database design' part at the end of the course assumes knowledge about UML class diagrams (taught in the course Introduction to Application Analysis and Design).

The course covers basic concepts of relational databases: structure and use of the database, SQL database language and principles of programming database applications (in Java).
