Call for Papers

While KEYS was successfully held three times in 2009, 2010 and 2012, we pursue the success of the fourth workshop with the prestigious ICDE conference again.

Information search has an integral part of our digital lives now. For example, we use Web search engines to search information of different forms (such as textual documents, images, and video) every day if not more often. Vast amount of data appearing on the Web and in the enterprises are in the structured or semi-structured form, e.g., relational or XML databases, and data extracted from text documents. Accessing these data in a traditional way is requires users to have some knowledge of structured query language and data schemas. In contrast, keyword search is a dominant and convenient way to get access to heterogeneous representation of data. This is a reason why database community has a growing research interest in providing effective and efficient keyword search for (semi-)structured data in recent years. Apart from the (semi-)structured data, we are also interested in keyword search in some emerging application environments, e.g., keyword search on spatial data and keyword search on tweets.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for both academic researchers and industrial practitioners to discuss the opportunities and challenges in keyword search on (semi-)structured data, spatial data, and Web data, and to present the key issues and novel techniques in this area. In this workshop, we invite researchers from academia as well as industry working on keyword search problems in relational databases, data warehouses, XML, information extraction, natural language processing, probabilistic databases, social networks, and related areas to submit their original papers.

Submission Guidelines

A submitted paper should be of one of the following type:

1. Regular Research Paper: The paper will report original research results with sound evaluation. It should be at most 8 pages.

2. Demo Paper: The paper will present novel keyword search and data exploration systems. System demonstrations will be encouraged in this category. The paper should be at most 6 pages.

3. Position Paper: The paper will present novel research directions for keyword search and data exploration. It should be at most 4 pages.

4. Short Paper: The paper will present a survey or an on-going work. It will clearly state the problem to be addressed and an outline of the methodology that the authors plan to follow. It should be at most 4 pages.

All submissions must be prepared in the IEEE camera-ready format. Please follow the submission guidelines for the ICDE 2016 Conference ( http://icde2016.fi/ ). All accepted submissions will be published in the ICDE proceedings and will also become publicly available through the IEEE Xplore.
