Luentomonistetta, Rajakerroksen fysiikka I (Hannu Savijärvi ja Timo Vihma), 63 sivua, voi tilata Yliopistopainosta.
(Luentokalvot 2010, Laskarit 2010, Luentokalvot 2008)
Take with you to the exam: a calculator. You can also bring material (notes, books. etc.) as much as you can carry. However, computers and all gadgets with a network connection are forbidden. Also a music player + headphones are ok, if (a) the player has no network connection, and (b) it is absolutely clear that no noise leaks out of the headphones to disturb others (in-ear plugs, or closed cup headphones).
Final exam 100%, in addition exercises max 20%. For example, 80% from the final exam and 20% from exercises will still result for 100% points for the course.

In square backets [] I'll try to put an approximation of which sections in Stull's book cover the material in the Finnish handout and in the lectures. Still in many cases, Stull explains somewhat longer and more detailed than what we actually cover in this course.
14.3. | kalvot | Monisteen luku 1 [Stull ch. 1] |
15.3. | kalvot | 2.1–2.3 puoleen väliin [3.2.3, 2.3–2.4, 3.5.1] |
21.3. | kalvot | 2.3–2.5 alkua (s. 10 eka kappale) [2.6–2.7, 2.9, 3–3.5, 4–4.2] |
22.3. | kalvot | 2.5–2.6 alkua (s. 11 loppuun) [2.5, 6–6.5] |
28.3. | kalvot | 2.6 - 3.1 + johdattelua dimensionaalianalyysiin (jota ei prujussa) [5–5.6, 7.4–7.4.1, 9–9.3 or just the general idea of dimensional analysis] |
29.3. | kalvot (kirjoitusvirheet s. 21,22,36 korjattu) | 3.2–3.6 [9.7, 7.4.1, 5.7–5.8, 5.10] |
4.4. | kalvot | 3.7–3.8 + johdatus diskreettiin Fourier-muunnokseen (ei prujussa). Luento on aika pitkä. [Stull gives the dimensionless gradients in 5.8, and then the integrated form for wind in eq. 9.7.5g. But in this lecture we develop the integrated forms for all of: wind (u), temperature (θ) and humidity (q). Internal boundary layer: 14.2.1–14.2.2. Then we talk about the discrete Fourier transform and power spectrum: 8.4, 8.6] |
5.4. | kalvot | 3.9–4 [How to calculate spectra with Mathematica or Matlab (see slides). 6.4.6 (Ekman spiral, Ekman pumping), Ekman-Taylor spiral (not in Stull)] |
11.4. | kalvot | 5.1–5.5 [11 (whole chapter) – 12.5] |
12.4. | kalvot | 6.1–7.3 [7.4–7.4.1 but a bit more details than Stull provides. 14–14.2 (but not 14.1.2 yet)] |
18.4. | kalvot | Viimeinen luento. 7.4–monisteen loppu [Last lecture. 14.1.2, 14.3, 13.4–13.4.3, 13.6. Gaussian plume model for the dispersion of impurities, not in Stull, but google finds these lecture notes] |

Return your answers to exercises into a box in Dynamicum, opposite of room 1D24b, by previous Monday, 12 o'clock. (If you're travelling, on a field course, or something, contact Pavel and ask for alternative ways (like email) to return the answers.)
(If you've never visited Dynamicum before, it's on the other side of Exactum, go in and right after the main door, find the door to our corridoor on the right.)
Sessions on Tuesdays 12-14, room E205, Physicum
