Please notice that during the week 43 practice group 2 (Tue 12-14, C454) is cancelled. The participants of that group can attend either the English practice group 1 (Tue 12-14, B453) or the Finnish practice group 3 (Wed 10-12, A317). Sorry for the inconvenience.


These questions will be covered in practise sessions during the week 43 (22-23.10.2002)

  1. Problems 15.5 (p. 571) from text book.  
    (A copy of Ch 15 is in the course folder in Rm A413, or in Web)
     
  2. What common features can you find in IA-64 and Crusoe architectures?
     
  3. Problems 16.1 and 16.2 (p. 598) from text book.                              (Probl. 14.1, 14.2, p. 576 [Stal99])

  5. Problems 17.4 and 17.5 (p. 639) from the text book.                         (Probl. 15.4 and 15.5, p. 617 [Stal99])
    Please assume that the "mikro-operation field" refers to the "control" field in Fig. 17.7 (15.7 [Stal99]). Assume also that the "address selection field" is part of "control" field in that figure.
     
  6. [1 HWP] Fill in the teaching evaluation form. I have thick skin and I get the replies only after the grading.... Thank you.
    Please write down your comments on parts
    1. 11. Your thoughts about the study materials (books, printouts, etc)?
    2. 13. What was the worst about this course? Mention here if you did not have enough background information, and in that case what was your background.
    3. 14. How would you improve the course? Add Ch 18 (Parallel Processing) instead of Ch 15 (IA-64)? Use more time with one chapter and go it through thoroughly? Which chapter? Remove something? What?
    We will discuss these answers in the practice session..

 


Reminder: Course exam is on Friday 1.11.2002 at 15-19 (Porthania I). It may be useful to bring along simple calculators.
