But that may not necessarily be the case: it is also possible that there is a group of cells representing the error and another group of cells representing suffering. It is then thoroughly possible to break the connection between the two groups of cells. The fact that the latter group of cells is intimately connected to conscious experience, and that we don’t understand what that connection is, may not be relevant for the design of this intervention.
