However, while Baars links broadcasting it to consciousness, I think the broadcasting does not have to be conscious, especially in the case of pain or suffering. The hypothesis is also closely related to the earlier interrupt theory of emotions explained in Chapter 10. The broadcasting might happen through several specific connections between brain areas, or through a central hub.
