12While the inflexibility of neural networks seems to hold for the networks in the human brain as well, there is the celebrated experiment of “upside down goggles”, which shows an interesting adaptive ability of the human neural networks. In this experiment, human participants started wearing goggles containing a prism which made their world look upside down. Surprisingly soon, the participants were able to function normally; somehow, their visual systems were able to process the input correctly in spite of the inverted visual input (Pisella et al., 2006).
