Abstract

The method of Fourier transformation, modified for the analysis of rather short nucleotide sequences, will be presented. The aim of this talk is to summarize the results of Fourier analysis of E.coli promoter sequences in comparison with other functional regions of the genome. The classification of E.coli promoter sequences according to their Fourier spectra as well as the biological interpretation of the results will be proposed. The Fourier-spectra based methods of bacterial promoter recognition will also be discussed.
