The Highpoint BIOS correctly sees all 8 drives, in ATA/133 mode.
When the kernel boots and loads the hpt366 driver, I'm seeing one of two
scenarios:
If the cards are inserted into the PCI slots 4, 5, or 6 the kernel only
sees the first 6 drives (ide2 .. ide7; interfaces 1 and 2 on the first
card, and interface 3 on the second card). The two drives on the 4th
interface are not seen.
If I run the cards in the PCI slots 1, 2, or 3, the kernel sees all 8
devices (ide2 .. ide9), but it thinks the cable type is ATA-33 for the two
drives on the 4th interface, and I get IDE errors:
Apr 10 08:30:33 nfs2 kernel: hds: drive not ready for command
Apr 10 08:30:33 nfs2 kernel: hds: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
Below are the dmesg excerpts from the cards in slots 1-2 (look for SLOT12)
as well as from the cards in slots 4-5 (look for SLOT45)
Thanks!
