PROBLEM: kernel crashes when recording audio

Long description:
When trying to capture audio/video from my bttv card (see lspci output
below), my system's reaction ranges from hard freezes to instant reboots to
segfaults - the latter variant enabled me to capture a kernel oops. I'm
using avicap from avifile project, with XviD capture codec. Video capture
works flawlessly. When I enable audio capture in addition (48 kHz, 16bit,
Mono) is when the problem starts (not after some time, but at the moment I
start the capture process). I do not have many ideas on why
smp_apic_timer_interrupt is the problem, since this is a uniprocessor
system.

Suggestions?

Keywords: audio, via, ac97, capture, smp_apic_timer
Kernel version: 2.4.18-k7
Oops output (decoded):

--cut (captured before system was rebooted, so should be accurate)--

ksymoops 2.4.6 on i686 2.4.18-k7. Options used
-V (default)
-k /proc/ksyms (default)
-l /proc/modules (default)
-o /lib/modules/2.4.18-k7/ (default)
-m /boot/System.map-2.4.18-k7 (default)

Warning: You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will
assume that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running
right now and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution.
If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get
more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find
map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.

Example program: is avicap from avifile project
Environment: on demand
Software: Avifile CVS-020816-14:06-2.95.4. Base system is Debian woody, with
some elements from testing and sid (e.g. avifile). The kernel is the Debian
standard kernel 2.4.18-k7 without any modification from me.
