FWIW, I have an identical unit (STT8000A) and it has worked
perfectly for me up to 2.4.18-pre, on 440BX and 850 chipset boxes.
I don't use scsi emulation for it, just the regular ide-tape driver,
and I don't have a hard drive on the same channel (it's hdd with hdc
being a HP CD-writer).
