I face bad disk performance on 2.4.18pre7 on
my new Thinkpad R30 laptop with ALI IDE chipset.
I can get around ~8mb/s with hdparm. With
stock 2.4.9-21 redhat kernel I can get 18mb/s, but
random lookups occured.
