47Mahasi (2016) gives a traditional Theravadan commentary: “Because there is no arising in the nibbna element [which is the cessation of conditioned phenomena through their non-arising], it is called not-born (ajata) and not-brought-to-being (abhhuta). Because it is not made by a cause, it is called not-made (akata). Because it is not made dependent on causes and conditions, it is called not-conditioned.” (see his Chapter “Attainment of Fruition”).
