In an earlier software engineering project a prototype for a context server was implemented. The server is used in current projects of HIIT/BRU to test the workings of different, e.g., reasoning, security, privacy and trust mechanisms. The goal of context server v2 (CoSe2 project group) is to extend the functionalities of this server.

The goal of context server v2 is to add the following functionalities (in priority order):

• Modify the database mechanism so that a XML Schemata is used instead of a DTD.
• Specify an interface for different security mechanisms and implement selected (appropriate) security mechanisms that use this interface. Details about which security mechanisms to implement are provided later.
• A web service -based interface for clients.
• A test client suite that enables the provisioning of context information from mobile terminals to the server.
