Basic problem in such an environment is the interoperability of systems: the objects should be able to communicate with each other reasonably regardless of the differencies in peer system technologies. We try to solve the interoperability problem by designing distributed middleware layer mechanisms, that can themselves be heterogeneous. Middleware services include for instance trading service (dynamic selection of server objects), type repository service (interface compatibility checking), binding service (considers interface types, quality of network service, and system status when creating a communication channel), and invocation of operations or connection of continuous data streams.
