Venue and arrival information
Conference Venue
The workshop will take place in the Exactum building (Gustaf Hällströmin katu 2b) at Kumpula Campus, room D122 (first floor).
- Exactum location in Google Maps
- Floor plan (with labels in Finnish, "pääsisäänkäynti" at the top of 1st floor map means "Main entrance")
If you feel like having a snack between meals and coffee breaks, there is a cafeteria in the neighbouring building (called Physicum). The entrance is opposite of the main entrance of Exactum.
If you need to lie down and rest during the day, there is a Zen Room in the second floor with a hammock and various fluffy chairs and couches. Ask Anna K. to show you the way (it is actually a quiet working room, but she finds it an excellent place for short rests too).
Getting to Helsinki
The most straightforward way to Helsinki is via air to the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, which is served by most major European airlines.
For those traveling from Tartu, there's also the option of taking a ferry from Tallinn. The available options are Tallink, Viking Line Eckerö Line, and Linda Line (smaller and cheaper ferry, can be unreliable due to weather).
Accommodation
Rooms will be booked in Hotel AVA, which is situated approximately 1.5 kilometers from Kumpula Campus. Accommodation (May 18-21, three nights) is free for the workshop participants. Please, let us know if you arrive or depart on other dates. The hotel website has instructions how to get to the hotel from the airport as well as google maps map for the location.
Traveling in Helsinki
From the Helsinki airport, Helsinki city is reached most easily and affordably by means of public transport. It is recommended to purchase a regional day ticket from an R-kioski already at the airport so that you can easily use the busses, trams and trains during your stay. The day tickets can be bought for 1-7 days. A regional 3-day ticket costs 24 €. Once you have purchased the regional day ticket, you can choose between taking the train or the bus. The timetables and further information can be found on the website of Helsinki Regional Transport.
